Windows’ forced upgrade still sucks

Windows 7 users are reporting that the notorious update KB3035583 has been re-enabled on their computer without any notice.

Update KB3035583 allows Windows 10 files to be downloaded in order to prepare the upgrade to the new operating system.

This was all done in the background, meaning users had no way of knowing that KB3035583 was making the changes until annoying pop-ups requested users to make the jump to Windows 10.

Those who didn’t want to perform the upgrade to Windows 10 could remove and hide the update or turn to third-party applications that blocked the new operating system completely in order to avoid any accidental installation – something that Microsoft acknowledges.

With the update being re-enabled without any prior warning, users are now experiencing the exact same issues they faced nearly a year ago.

The cut-off date for Windows 7 and 8.1 users to make the free jump to Windows 10 is 29 July.
