Last week’s rumours of another F.E.A.R. 3 (they don’t pay me enough to dignify “F.3.A.R.” with any sort of lexical endorsement) delay have been officially confirmed by Warner Bros.
Originally scheduled to drop last year already, the game’s launch was pushed forward to March, and now to May. Pending further delays, obviously. Three delays for the third game? Sounds like dark magic to me.
“The F.E.A.R. 3 launch date will now be in May 2011, as we look to deliver the best possible game for our consumers,” says the publisher. Presumably, it’s just not yet scary enough or something. On the up side, it’s no longer in the same release window as Crysis 2.
The game introduces a bunch of new stuff to the series, including “divergent co-op, an evolved cover system, and more scares”, according to dev Day 1 Studios’ Denny Thorley. Legendary horror film director John Carpenter is consulting on the project, as well as 30 Days of Night writer Steve Niles.
