Last week we compiled a list of 40 awesome looking games set to drop this year, complete with images. The first two games on that list are out this month; Dead Space 2 and Little big Planet 2.
Dead Space remains arguably the most critically acclaimed survival horror game released for this generation’s gaming platforms, and its sequel is massively anticipated. To celebrate its imminent release, EA has launched its ‘Your mom hates this‘ promotional campaign.
The second big release for the month couldn’t be more opposite to Dead Space. Little Big Planet somehow made cutesy character design, bright colours, and child friendly gaming cool in an industry characterized by kill streaks, headshots and blood splatters. Media Molecule has taken the user generated content that gave the first game so much depth to a whole new level, with innovative beta testers developing RTS and FPS mini-games using the Little Big Planet 2 level creator. Sadly for some, the game is exclusive to the PS3.
PS3 owners are getting a second major treat this month, with Mass Effect 2 finally making its way to the platform. The game was released for PC and Xbox 360 last year, and remains one of the highest rated games ever on review aggregating sites. PS3 bound RPG fans cannot afford to skip this utter gem.
| Game | Platform | Release date |
| Mass Effect 2 | PS3 | 19 Jan |
| Little Big Planet 2 | PS3 | 19 Jan |
| Mindjack | PS3, 360 | 26 Jan |
| Dead Space 2 | PS3, 360, PC | 26 Jan |
So that’s it for this month. The phrase “quality, not quantity” springs to mind, which is fine with us. Next month is just around the corner, and we are virtually trembling with anticipation over Bulletstorm and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
