Nintendo 3DS will offer 3-5 hours battery life with 3D mode on

21 January 2011

Fudzilla is reporting that Nintendo has admitted that its forthcoming handheld, the 3DS, will feature a projected battery life of 3-5 hours when in 3D mode. This will vary depending on the particular game and how well it is optimised for 3D.

Nintendo is also supposedly claiming that the device will last upwards of 8 hours with power saving mode enabled. Power saving mode is thought to turn off 3D and WiFi, and dim the screen.

So, that’s about long enough to get you through pretty much any domestic flight, but if you were planning on gaming away long road-trips with the 3DS, then you will be sorely disappointed.
