Resident Evil spin-off’s player count plummets less than a week after release

There are currently less than 100 simultaneous Umbrella Corps players on Steam, despite the game releasing less than a week ago, reports githyp.

The game, which is based on Capcom’s beloved Resident Evil franchise, released on PS4, Xbox One and Steam on 21 June , achieving a meager 419 peak player count since then.

These dismal numbers appear to be a result of a combination of poor marketing and review scores, with the game currently not having earned a Metacritic score, as not enough outlets have reviewed it.

Fortunately Capcom’s Resident Evil 7 reveal at this year’s E3 looks to be bringing the franchise back to its horror roots, so we have faith that the new game will sell slightly better than Umbrella Corps.
