DiRT 3 release date announced, two new screenshots

4 February 2011

DiRT 2 blew us away when it was released back in late 2009. Fantastic driving mechanics, a well realised sense of speed, jaw dropping visuals (on the PC version, at least), and a neat soundtrack all contributed to what is probably my favourite current-generation racing game.

So naturally, I’m pretty excited about the sequel: DiRT 3, which we now know is being released on 24th May, 2011.

DiRT 3 boasts double the track content contained in the last outing, and will focus on off-road racing events. The majority of the game’s career mode will be made of rally racing, and rally courses will be split across three continents: North America, Africa and Europe.

Codemasters celebrated the announcement by releasing two new screenshots which show off distinctly African terrain. Kenya has been confirmed as a playable location in DiRT 3.
