Dead Space 2 executive producer talks Hard Core mode, multiplayer, DLC, more

7 February 2011

In the latest episode in a series of dev Q&As with Visceral’s Steve Papoutsis, the executive producer admits he hasn’t played the game on its (absurd) Hard Core difficulty mode, explains why there are no boss fights in the sequel, describes how the team came up with the Hand Cannon, avoids confirming that there’s a Dead Space 3, and talks a bit about the incoming campaign DLC, Severed.

Assuring everybody that they’re “working hard to finish that up”, he says that the add-on “focuses on the story of characters that you may have encountered in Dead Space: Extraction, and that’s Lexine Murdoch and Gabe Weller. Stay tuned for that, it’s coming out soon – you’ll get to see their exploits and adventure across the Sprawl.”

He also recommends buying your significant other a copy of Dead Space 2 for Valentine’s Day – because nothing says “I love you” quite like dead babies.
