What we're playing this weekend (3-4 September 2011)

2 September 2011

Derrick Cramer

Not much time this for gaming this weekend unless I decide to skip a family gathering and neglect work. If this happens (it probably will) I’ve got some Witcher 2 lined up, along with a few games of DotA to keep nerd rage levels high.

Dan Parmenter

Ah, the sweet nectar that is the post-drought buffet of gaming goodness. This weekend I’ll be welcoming the slew of new releases with some Resistance 3, a highly anticipated sequel that continues a beloved PS3-exclusive IP. Look out for the full review next week just before release day.

I’m also waiting patiently by my postbox for my copy of Deus Ex: Human Revolution to arrive, and I foresee a couple of late gaming nights in my near future if all the hype about this title is to be believed. I still rate the first game in the series as the best FPS I’ve ever played, so if DXHR is even half as good I’ll be a very happy gamer.

Oh, and I also picked up Beyond Good and Evil HD off the PSN recently, and for those of you who haven’t played this sleeper hit I highly recommend downloading it for some nostalgic enjoyment.

Tarryn van der Byl

I’ll be finishing up the last little bit of Deus Ex: Revolution, then reloading an earlier save and finishing it over again BECAUSE I MISSED ONE ****ING EBOOK AND NOW I WON’T GET ALL THE ACHIEVEMENTS. At least this time I get to kill everybody.

Chris Kemp

I’ll admit it; I’m just going to come right out and say it. I, like many before me (and not even for my own first time) have become addicted to a DotA-clone, this one in the form of Heroes of Newerth.

So as much as I’d like to get all hipster nerd on you guys and say I’m going to be cracking open some local indies that are totally going to be huge in six months (at which point I’ll abandon them for being too mainstream), I’m actually going to be spending my weekend getting sworn at by adolescents and worrying about painfully trivial things like my kill-death-ratio. When I do manage to take the HoN needle out of my arm for a few minutes, I’ll no doubt be creeping my way through Deus Ex.

James Etherington-Smith

There’s a home networking project on the cards this weekend. If I don’t pitch up on Monday, someone check my attic for my corpse. If I survive, I’ll be finishing up Deus Ex: Human Revolution and putting my thoughts to a review.
