What we're playing this weekend (15 – 16 October 2011)

15 October 2011

Tarryn van der Byl

Apparently I’ve been drafted into another Gears of War 3 Arcade mode campaign run. That makes it number… four? Five? Six? I’ve kind of lost count. I’m just grinding stats for my Seriously 3.0 achievement now; although that loud, splashy sound a headshot makes remains a constant joy.

Chris Kemp

This weekend is important to me and about 3 other nerds in South Africa. Why? Magic: The Gathering Online has its online prerelease of it’s new set of cards, giving us our first shot at playing tournaments with the new card pool for the first time. So I’ll be geeking out over these all weekend, hoping to open one of the rare “cards” that go for as much as R500 (real money!). When I need a break from that, I’m still slugging my way through my current indie favourite, Trine.

Quinton Bronkhorst

This weekend I’m going to lock myself in my room and catch up on the serious BlackBerry Messenger time I missed this week. Just kidding. I don’t have any friends. That’s why I’m going to be getting my Marvel on playing Spiderman: Edge of Time and probably feeding my Minecrack-habit (Must. Mine. More. Ore!). I believe Pokémon is also on the cards. Who needs friends, anyway?

Derrick Cramer

I’ve got very little time for gaming this weekend. It’s the Photo and Film expo on Saturday, followed by the Johanensburg International Motor show on Sunday. If I find some spare time, I’ll tackle Brother in Arms again. I got a few solid hours in Road to Hill 30 last weekend and need to finish it before moving on to Earned in Blood (again).

James Etherington-Smith

Some tower defence is on the cards with Orcs Must Die!. For a change of pace I might just fire up the jet engines (the Xbox 360 sounds like a jet engine once it warms up amiritegaiz!?) and get stuck into Ace Combat: Assault horizon.
