Anyone who has been brave enough to visit YouTube comment sections knows it is almost always a vitriolic and argumentative environment.
That’s why we’re a bit apprehensive about YouTube’s “Heroes” program, which will allow any YouTube user to become a moderator.
What exactly will these moderators be doing?
The volunteers help create the best possible YouTube experience for everyone by:
- Flagging inappropriate videos. Learn more about the YouTube Trusted Flagger Program.
- Adding captions and subtitles to videos.
- Sharing their knowledge with other users on the YouTube Help forum, which is available in English, French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
YouTube will also be rewarding these moderators for good work done with everything from access to exclusive workshops and sneak preview product launches.
You can sign up for the program here.
