Controversial video game movie director Uwe Boll retires from filmmaking

Infamous video game movie director Uwe Boll has announced his retirement from filmmaking, reports the Toronto Metro.

Boll said that his films have not been financially viable, and that he has been losing money by financing films himself.

“The market is dead. You don’t make any money anymore on movies because the DVD and Blu Ray market worldwide has dropped 80 per cent in the last three years.”

“That is the real reason; I just cannot afford to make movies.”

Boll added that he would be happy to continue making movies, but that it is just not profitable.

The controversial director is best known for his terrible video game movie adaptions, which are widely perceived as the worst video game movies ever made.

Boll’s final film will be the upcoming Rampage: President Down, which he says will not have a great impact on the film industry.

“Rampage 3 will be watched on Netflix, DVD or iTunes or whatever,” Boll said.

“With streaming everywhere there is just a big wave of movies flooding around and you have no impact.”

Fans of video game movie adaptions have something to look forward to however, as both Assassin’s Creed and Gears of War films are currently in the works.
