Watch: Blacksmiths recreate Genji’s sword from Overwatch

A specialised team of blacksmiths have forged a real-life recreation of Genji’s sword from Overwatch.

While recreating a sword wielded by a cyborg ninja from a sci-fi video game may be a challenge for some craftsmen, the folks over at Man at Arms: Reforged specialise in recreating video game weaponry.

Even so, forging Genji’s weaponry in real life was a complex task, requiring everything from specific blade forging methods to LED lighting strips.

The sword is a functioning replica, capable of slicing through various objects cleanly, despite its complex build and unique “spine”.

The team also recreated Genji’s trio of shurikens, which he wields as his primary ranged weapon.
