Square Enix has confirmed that NieR: Automata will get an anime adaptation.

The announcement took place yesterday, during the game’s fifth anniversary live stream, after which a teaser trailer was also released.

There are currently no details on the number of episodes, the release date, or the voice acting cast.

A translation of the trailer’s description reads:

“The stage is a far future where humanity is defeated by the moon in front of the overwhelming force of ‘mechanical life forms’ that aliens carry out. ‘2B’ belonging to the newly organised Android unit ‘YoRHa’ will throw themselves into a fierce battle to recapture the earth”.

The anime’s production will be handled by Aniplex in cooperation with Square Enix, and A-1 Pictures will be responsible for the animation.
