Netflix announced that it is partnering with 2K and Take-Two Interactive to adapt the BioShock game series into a live-action movie.
2K is currently working with Vertigo Entertainment, the production studio behind movies like The Grudge and It, to produce the adaptation.
However, details regarding the film are very slim for now, as there is no release date, director, or cast for the movie yet.

The live-action BioShock movie has been a long time coming, with Pirates of the Caribbean and The Ring director Gore Verbinski initially setting out to make it in 2008. However, the project got scrapped due to its high budget and intended R-rated content.
Netflix’s website states the movie is an adaptation of the BioShock franchise, a decision that some fans have criticised, arguing that many of the subtler plot details won’t translate in the same way.
Released in 2007, Bioshock has you play as Jack, who finds himself in the underwater city of Rapture after a plane crash over the Atlantic.
Rapture was meant as a haven for the ultra-rich and powerful, but greed and corruption twisted it into a hellscape that you must now escape.
Fans of the BioShock series will be happy to know that 2K announced work had already begun on the next game in the BioShock series back in 2019.
Today, 2K announced the founding of Cloud Chamber, its newest development studio. This team of storytellers has begun work on the next iteration of the acclaimed @BioShock franchise, which will be in development for the next several years.
