The Witcher 4 announced

CD Projekt Red has announced that it will be working with Epic Games to develop the next installment in The Witcher series of video games.

The developer also confirmed in a blog post on The Witcher website that it will be moving from REDengine to Unreal Engine 5 to create a vast open world and choice-based story.

“This is an exciting moment as we’re moving from REDengine to Unreal Engine 5, beginning a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games,” said CD Projekt Red CTO Paweł Zawodny.

“We’ll closely collaborate with Epic Games’ developers with the primary goal being to help tailor the engine for open-world experiences.”

The Witcher is one of the most popular fantasy franchises that span several books, video game series, and most recently a Netflix adaptation starring Henry Cavill who plays the famous Witcher Geralt of Rivia.

In The Witcher video games, fans get to play as Geralt as he ventures “The Continent” on quests to slay deadly monsters.

Although this announcement is exciting for fans, the development time frame and the release date are still unknown.
