John Wick creator is working on Streets of Rage movie

According to a report from Deadline, a Streets of Rage movie is in development and has been scripted by Joh Wick creator Derek Kolstad.

The producer of Sonic, Dj2 Entertainment and the studio behind the Equalizer franchise, Escape Artists, will produce the adaption of the SEGA title.

This news follows the success of the Sonic 2 movie and dj2 Entertainments signing a contract with Amazon to produce an adaption of The Game Awards winner It Takes Two.

Derek Kolstad, who created the John Wick franchise and penned the Nobody, wrote the script for the adaption on spec.

Streets of Rage was first released in 1991 and was followed by numerous sequels. The latest of these games was released in April 2020 and sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide.

Kolstad is not the only John Wick creative working on a game adaptation.

A Ghost of Tsushima adaption is also being produced and is set to be directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Takashi Doscher.

Chad Stahelski directed the first three John Wick films.
