According to new rumours, Intel’s flagship 13th-gen Raptor Lake processor will offer a 5.8GHz boost clock.
Intel just released its highly anticipated Core i9-12900KS to the public last month, and it comes with a two-core boost clock of up to 5.5GHz.
However, this seems to be just a taste of what’s to come, as a tweet from @OneRaichu teased that Intel could add 200-300MHz over the 12900KS.
RPL will over the new highest freq which was created by 12900KS.
More 2-300 MHz is possible.— Raichu (@OneRaichu) April 13, 2022
Adding this extra performance would probably require a lot more power, which would make it interesting to see how power-efficient this processor would be.
However, even if this processor is notably less power-efficient, it would presumably be reserved for high-end models where performance trumps power efficiency.
These kinds of clock speeds would likely come with more cache, E cores, and improved Instructions Per Cycle (IPC) of the Raptor Cover P cores, which is exciting news for consumers.
