F1 22 release date announced

22 April 2022

Electronic Arts, in partnership with Codemasters, has announced that its next Formula 1 title will be released on 1 July 2022.

F1 22 will offer several brand-new features such as race optimizations, greater immersion, and a high level of customisation of both the car and the player avatar in F1 Life.

These new customisation options will include, “a customisable hub to show off their collection of supercars, clothing, and accessories, earned via gameplay, Podium Pass, and the in-game brand store,” said Senior Creative Director at Codemasters Lee Mather.

“Alongside the real-world changes, we have updated the physics to accommodate the new aero rules and re-worked the tyre model, making the handling truer to life.”

Additionally, F1 22 will allow players to choose between two different race modes, Broadcast or Immersive, for a more relaxed or challenging experience respectively.

The new game will also support VR for the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive for a fully immersive experience.

“With new and updated circuits, Adaptive AI, F1 Life, and expanded gameplay options, there has never been a better time for players to take their seats and live the life of an F1 driver,” said Mather.

On the day of release, F1 22 will be available on PS4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Those who pre-order before May 16 will receive an additional Miami content pack.
