Crackdown: Netflix doesn’t care about you if you use a VPN

Netflix CEO Reed Hastings has gone on record saying he doesn’t care about VPN users.

This follows recent efforts by Netflix to cut down on virtual private networks that hide a users location.

“It’s a very small but quite vocal minority,” Hastings said on 18 April, “It’s really inconsequential to us.”

The issue stems around the fact that while Netflix may be available in nearly every country, a large majority of its content is restricted to specific countries (South Africa is a prime example with 695 titles available vs 5659 in the US).

These users are still paying for the service but have a much larger selection of content.

Will this news affect you in any way, or have you moved over to South African Netflix? Perhaps you have been more impressed with ShowMax’s offerings? Let us know in the comments below.
