Video game box art is constantly evolving alongside player expectations and the game it advertises.

It is interesting to note that some long-running game franchises retain the basic cover art structure of their early titles, while some scrap it completely in favour of a more modern style.

We’ve compared the earliest and latest video game cover art from a number of long-running franchises, with interesting results.
