Java, C, and C++ remain the most popular programming languages in the world, according to the Tiobe Index for December 2017.
C has gained in popularity in 2017 thanks to an increase in low-level software in the automotive industry.
Tiobe added that the prime candidates for programming language of the year were C and Kotlin.
“Kotlin is a language that can run on a Java VM and has become popular because it has been accepted as an official Android language,” stated the report.
The PYPL rankings showed Java at the top of the list, followed by Python and PHP.

PYPL – The more a language tutorial is searched, the more popular the language is assumed to be. The raw data comes from Google Trends.
Tiobe – The ratings are based on the number of skilled engineers worldwide, courses, and third-party vendors. Popular search engines are also used to calculate the ratings.
