Battlefield 3 pricing comparison

EA South Africa is expecting to receive Battlefield 3 stock today, and over the next 2 days the distributor will be shipping thousands of copies of the game to retailers around the country. The game has earned praise from reviewers so far, and the PC version is sitting on a Metacritic score of 92/100, while the Xbox 360 version is currently on a slightly less impressive 86/100. If you are planning on buying the game then chances are you have already pre-ordered it, but just in case you haven’t we’ve rounded up the pricing currently being adopted by local retailers.

BTGames

BTGames currently has the PC version on pre-order for R345, and the Xbox 360 PS3 versions each for R529. If you pre-order from BTGames you can arrange to collect the game from one of the stores on Friday.

Kalahari.com

Kalahari.com is selling the PC version for R329.95 and the console versions for R495. Kalahari offers free delivery on all purchases over R250, which means that if you order from them they will deliver to anywhere in SA for free.

Zaps

Zaps is a small family run games and hardware shop located in Brightwater Commons in Randburg. They also run an online store, and are selling the PC version of Battlefield 3 for R341, while the console versions are selling for R526. Zaps also offers free delivery on pre-orders, so that price is all-inclusive.

Takealot.com

Formerly Take2, Takealot is selling Battlefield 3 on PC for R322 and on console for R539. Takealot is doing free deliveries until 31 December 2011. Cape Town based shoppers can collect their copy from the Takealot offices in Milnerton.

Origin

Although Steam is not selling Battlefield 3, PC gamers can purchase Battlefield 3 directly from EA’s Origin store. The local Origin store currently lists the games for R349, but bear in mind you will need to download the 15.4GB game client.

Look & Listen

Representing mainstream retail, we have Look & Listen, who has the PC version of Battlefield 3 for R349 and the console version for R524. Once you’ve pre-ordered you will be able to collect your copy from one of Look & Listen’s stores on release day.

So PC gamers looking for the best deal will be best served by Takealot, while Kalahari is the cheapest place to get the console version.

Battlefield 3 is out this Friday, 28 October, on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
