Indie developers, Bidogames, are currently working on Nioki Adventure – a 2D sandbox game, following the trends established by Minecraft, or more fittingly, Terraria.
Bidogames is a new French indie developer consisting of only two guys.
What they’re looking to do to set Nioki Adventure apart, however – aside from sporting some awesome HD visuals and artistic style – is putting a core focus on multiplayer and co-op.
“We would like to keep what makes Terraria-like games great (multiplayer, exploration, construction, bosses, etc.) while adding high definition graphics, associated with a new gameplay and richer content (a main quest, secondary quests, hundreds of objects…),” they said in an announcement for the game.
The game will feature a skill tree, adding RPG elements into the title, and will push co-op into every aspect of the game, from battles to construction and exploration. There’s also an in-game chat feature, so you can communicate with your co-op partner, and presumably call them names as you slash slime monsters.
Bidogames, being indie devs, aren’t sitting behind big desks being all self-important and are receptive to community feedback and suggestions – which they invite anyone to give them.
The game has basically just been announced, so everything is very much still work-in-progress – but it looks like it’s going to be a cool indie title to keep tabs on, and we most definitely will.
Nioki Adventure will be released on PC, and the devs are taking advantage of Xbox Live’s indie platform as well. Keep an eye on this one.
