Remember Me: unforgettable experience or fleeting moment

Remember Me review roundup

Capcom’s new IP, Remember Me, is releasing this week, and can hopefully breathe some new life into a market saturated with shooters and numerical sequels, but is it living up to the hype?

Remember Me is sitting on Metascores of 72, 70, and 66 for the PS3, PC and Xbox 360 version respectively.

On GameRankings, it’s a little different, with the PS3 version having 75.33%, the PC version having a 75% and the Xbox 360 version trailing with 63.17%.

Check out what the critics are saying about the ambitious new game:

GamingTrend: 9.3/10 (PS3)

“As the credits roll on this 11 hour journey, I’m pleasantly surprised to see such a great title come out of a brand new studio. The team at DONTNOD Entertainment have brought something unique to the table, giving us not only beautiful graphics and incredible sound, but also a new combat approach wrapped around a very engaging storyline.”

EGM: 9/10 (PS3)

“Strikes the perfect balance between narrative exposition and gameplay. With expert pacing, the game offers an engaging cyberpunk story blended into a solid action-adventure that’s equal parts brawling and platforming.”

Gamespot: 7/10 (PS3)

“Remember Me is a good game loaded with intriguing ideas; here’s hoping that its sequel, should we ever have one, rides these ideas to greatness.”

IGN: 5.9/10 (Xbox 360)

“A likeable, even admirable game that tells a deeply personal story in a thoughtfully-fashioned world populated by richly detailed character models. But ultimately, it failed to challenge or excite me as a game, as all of its best ideas are confined to its overarching fiction rather than its gameplay.”

VideoGamer: 4/10 (Xbox 360)

“Remember Me is nothing more than an entirely forgettable tour de farce of archaic game design. Its horrific dialogue, sickening camera and regressive combat are major blips in a title that poses one major question: was this game worth releasing?”

The Escapist: 6/10 (PC)

“Remember Me doesn’t do anything outright terrible, but neither does it come together as something truly great either. An interesting big idea sci-fi setting can’t hold a whole game together; it needs to be coupled with equally interesting gameplay.”

Gamespot: 7/10 (PC)

“Within Remember Me, there’s an outstanding game struggling to be set free, held back by a story that never takes off and claustrophobic levels that never allow the fantastic near-future setting to take center stage.”

Vandal Online: 7.9/10 (PC)

“In general terms, Remember Me works, but it’s extremely easy and the new ideas and mechanics don’t offer a remarkable addition. We would love to have a sequel in which all these issues are polished and fixed because the universe Dontnod has created is full of possibilities.”

Seems like the current reviews are all across the board for Remember Me. Well, we’re excited to get some more time with it after MyGaming got the chance to go hands-on with Remember Me.

One of the few games that have huge differences in review scores. Interesting.
