Games you can play this week

This week, gamers get a bite from a Kalypso game that’s been hiding in the shadows, entitled Dark; it garners definite attention after receiving some praise at E3.

On the other end of things, PC gamers finally get a massive expansion to the always-popular Civilization V, adding a wealth of new features to keep your god-like hands busy.

Dark (PC, Xbox 360) – 9 July 2013

Hiding in the shadows is Dark – a stealth action role-playing game from German developer Realmforge Studios, releasing on 12 July.

Dark follows Eric, a vampire who can take control of some impressive supernatural abilities, such as teleportation, invisibility, and the ability to see in the dark and slow down time.

As you’d expect, players can regenerate the vampiric abilities by drinking the blood of enemies.

The game looks interesting and hopefully lives up to its promise.

Civilization V: Brave New World (PC) – 12 July 2013

Sid Meier’s Civilization V is getting its long-awaited second official expansion pack this week.

The turn-based strategy game’s new expansion adds new gameplay elements through the introduction of international trade, and a stronger focus on culture and diplomacy.

Also included are nine new civilizations, eight wonders (the Parthenon, Broadway, Globe Theatre, The Motherland Calls, Borobudur, the International Space Station, the Uffizi, the Red Fort, and Prora), two scenarios (American Civil War and Scramble for Africa), Trade Routes, Ideologies, the World Congress which expands the diplomatic aspect of the game, and an improved Cultural Victory.
