Ubisoft’s next-gen titles impress at Gamescom

Ubisoft are definitely in the limelight during Gamescom 2013, and the giant publisher has brought some new details and videos on some of its (and the industry’s) biggest upcoming games.

Watch Dogs

Watch Dogs is often the answer when a gamer is asked about their most anticipated game, and Ubisoft dropped a new trailer to highlight some of the background and story of the upcoming open-world action hacking game.

The new trailer reveals that the game’s hero, Aiden Pierce, has no affiliations to anyone, not even the Watch Dogs universe’s hacking group DedSec. Aiden is on a solo mission, but why exactly is still in question, but we do get to see Aiden taking out enemies, putting peddle to the metal in a getaway car, and some new hacking abilities.

The Crew

The Crew is Ubisoft’s upcoming open-world racer that looks like the best elements of Burnout and an MMO combined.

Players will have to team up with friends to get a rep across the underground racing scene and sabotage the 510s – a notorious gang which controls the city.

Rayman Legends

Rayman Legends has to be one of the most  beautiful games on show at Gamescom 2013. The hand-painted animations and gorgeous environments make the side-scrolling adventure sequel a pure joy to watch.

Ubisoft can show all they want of Rayman Legends, but its not enough – we need to play it.

The co-op action and beautiful visuals are only the tip of the iceberg, as the difficulty curve and crazy collectibles will inject a sense of nostalgia into the upcoming game wave.

South Park: The Stick of Truth

South Park has had its stints in the video game world, but for the first time its taking the RPG genre by the balls.

South Park: The Stick of Truth is Obsidian’s love-letter to old-school RPG fans and South Park fanatics alike.

The game looks just like the show in action and the transitions between cutscenes to gameplay are actually hard to notice, giving the gamer an experience that’s true to South Park, and even features an original story and writing from series’ creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

Assassin’s Creed IV

Ubisoft has shown a lot of Assassin’s Creed IV already, but it continues to impress us.

Ubisoft showcased the game’s cross-play functionality with between the PS4 and PS Vita, while also showing off a glorious naval battle sequence and on-foot assassination in the process.

Ubisoft hasn’t yet released clean footage of the naval battle scene, but this Gamespot hands-on is just as good.

Just Dance 2014

The top-selling dancing series is back for the next-gen with Just Dance 2.

Using the new Xbox One Kinect, the game will feature greater accuracy and tracking for even better body and limb monitoring, and a generally more appealing experience.
