I have a terrible problem – I am addicted to video game collector’s editions! As much as I love them there are limits to what I will spend – and there are some heavy wallet killers out there. The rarer the collector’s item, the more expensive.
Here are some of the most expensive Collectors Editions around.
Alien VS Predator Hunter Edition
- Amazon: $317 (New); $262 (Used)
I missed out on this beauty. The Hunter Edition came with a life-sized Facehugger model, a graphic novel, a steelbook case, some DLC maps, a Yutani Corp patch and a holographic Lenticular card.
No matter what was in this box, obviously the facehugger was the main attraction – you can actually keep the rest, and even the game.
Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Limited Edition
- Amazon: $355.75 (New); $48.99 (Used)
When this game was released the Limited Edition cost a mere $10 more than the standard version. Now if you are looking to lay hands on this limited edition up you will be paying about triple the price.
The main attraction is the Laser Cell lithograph depicting Naruto and Sasuke in battle, and each one created was etched with a unique identifying number making it a truly limited collectible.
Demon’s Souls Deluxe Edition
- Amazon: $450.00 (New); $125 (Used)
When Demon’s Souls was released no one actually knew much about it. The game was a hit even to the surprise of the developers and now the very limited deluxe edition of the game will cost you a fortune.
I only know one person who owns this version and he will never let it go. Imagine what it will be worth in 5 years’ time?
Assassin’s Creed II Master Assassin Edition
- Amazon: $320 – $499 (New); $105 (Used)
One of my favourite Assassin’s Creed games in the series was released in a Master Assassin’s Edition. This edition included an 8.5 inch Ezio statue, and artbook, behind the scenes DVD, the game soundtrack, and two (at the time) exclusive maps.
This edition was extremely limited and now is very rare. I picked up the White Edition (I had no idea there was even a Master Assassin’s Edition).
Uncharted 2: Fortune Hunter Edition
This is probably the most expensive collector’s edition around; if you are looking to pick this up be ready to pay anything around AU$9,999.99 (R98,563.94) on eBay.
This 200 copy edition of the smash hit game included the replica Phurba Dagger Artefact, in an awesome book-styled box, and the game of course. This edition was never sold and only given away as a competition prize.
Most gamers will probably never see or touch this edition of Uncharted 2.
