Goat Simulator review round-up

The reviews are out for our game of the year – Goat Simulator.

We gave the game a lot of coverage due to the sheer bizarreness of the title from Coffee Stain Studios and now the question becomes; is it a great publicity stunt or can it hold its own as a legitimate game?

The game is sitting on 67% on Metacritic at the time of publication with all reviews for PC. Have a read below to see what the reviewers think.

Eurogamer 7/10

It’s rough around the edges, and amuses only for a short but sweet time, which may lead some to look askance at the price tag. Yet there are plenty of games which cost more and entertain far less, so while Goat Simulator is a joke, it’s at least one in which the player is a willing participant. No kidding.

Gizmorama 4/5

Goat Simulator allows you to jetpack into a petrol station. As a goat. There’s nothing more I can say that could possibly sell (or not sell) you on Goat Simulator. It is absurd, it is moronic, but it is also a ton of fun. Truly, gaming has finally found its Citizen Kane.

The Escapist 3/5

As a joke, as a piece of interactive comedy, Goat Simulator is an undoubted success. The sheer concept is damn funny, and as you see everything for the first time, it’s hard not to let a big grin spread across your face. Like all good gags, however, there’s only so far it can be taken before it stops raising a smile, and by its very nature, Goat Simulator doesn’t have the legs to last more than a few minutes.

Techgeek 8.2/10

Overall, Coffee Stain has really done a great job with this game. The gameplay and hilarity factor alone constitutes a great game in my opinion, and they should be honestly happy with themselves for releasing such an oddball of a game.

Gameplanet 9/10

A sandbox of the simplest kind, Goat Simulator is a mental yet uproarious title whose silly antics will put a smile on the dial of even the most po-faced gamer.

Mod Vive 8/10

In short, if you’re looking for the next Skyrim or Grand Theft Auto, you won’t find it here. If you’re looking for a goofy little time-killer and have ten bucks lying around, snag this game.
