Craziest video game weapons

There are a lot of games that feature standard, run-of-the-mill weapons – the M4 carbine, the AK-47, and so on. Then there are games that feature weapons that are down right crazy, and could only have been conceived by the development team during a night of drinking.

Here are some of the craziest weapons in gaming.

Mr. Toots – Red Faction Armageddon

This weapon doesn’t fit into the game’s feel at all, although I doubt there are many titles that would suit a rainbow-farting unicorn as a weapon.

Yes, you read that right, a rainbow-farting unicorn. [Is this some kind of reference to the “Diablo 3 isn’t gothic enough” controversy? -Ed]

The Old Woman – Worms

Worms features an attack that spawns an elderly lady that walks very slowly while muttering under her breath. She then explodes, causing major damage. The Old Woman ranks up there with the Flying Sheep and Holy Hand Grenade. [And don’t forget the Concrete Donkey and Super Banana Bomb! -Ed]

The Sheepinator – Ratchet and Clank

Ratchet and Clank has many weapons that should be on this list, but the best one has to be the Sheepinator. If you haven’t guessed yet, the Sheepinator turns your enemies into sheep.

The Disco Ball – Ratchet and Clank

I had to squeeze in one last weapon from Ratchet and Clank. The Disco Ball does in the game what it does in real life – hangs in the air and causes your enemies to dance around like idiots. Take some notes, you may learn a move or two.

The Drill Bucket – Dead Rising 2

Dead Rising is another game that should have its own craziest weapons list. We could call it the Drill Bucket list. Get it, like bucket list? Never mind. The Drill Bucket is effective at ensuring zombie heads do not remain in working order.

Blitzball – Final Fantasy X

With all Final Fantasy X’s seriousness, the Blitzball is one of the game’s most comical weapons. It’s basically a ball that Wakka wields as a weapon. Keeping in mind that Wakka is one of the most powerful characters once levelled up, the rubber ball filled with air does some serious damage when unleashed.

Instant Kill Knife – Call of Duty

If you’ve played a Call of Duty game you know that if you are cornered with no ammo, all you need to do is pull out your knife and stab someone. The knife is the most overpowered weapon in the game, and can kill enemies instantly.

The instant knife kill is not unique to CoD, and most FPS games feature the one-blade-wonder. I have never stabbed someone in real life, but I don’t think it’s as easy as these games make out.

Gun Heels – Bayonetta

Swinging around and shooting with your legs is the hottest trend this winter. Bayonetta rocks pistols on her high heels and shoots them pretty accurately. This weapon is just one of the unique weapons found in the game – she also equips rocket launcher boots.
