We all have those games that we “never” play but leave installed on our PC or console for our “young cousin who visits, sometimes”.
You know, those games which accidentally start up when we are alone or bored on a Friday night and are home alone.
Come now, MyGaming is a safe place, you can share your guilty gaming pleasures with us – we won’t tell anyone.
Still hesitant to share? Well, let me get the ball rolling: here are some of gaming’s best – or worst, depending on how you look at it – guilty pleasures.
SingStar Afrikaans Treffers
Everyone appreciates a local version of an international game – especially us South Africans.
That being said, SingStar’s attempt to woo local gamers was not what I had in mind. Give us GTA set in Cape Town or Battlefield set in Hillbrow, not Afrikaans karaoke.
Despite the awfulness of this title, you know there are a few wannabe Idols who sang their lungs out when this game was loaded. [Meisie meisie jy’s deel van my lewe *clap claps* – Ed]
Dead or Alive
This guilty pleasure game truly makes you feel guilty while you play it, but not in the same way SingStar does.
The scantily clad, large-bosomed female characters definitely fall into the category of “great visuals”.
I have never played a DOA game, but I can see why it would attract a certain sector of the gaming market.
Don’t feel bad though if you do play it, it is difficult to ignore a pair of huge jugs.
Wii Party Games
We give the Wii a lot of flack on MyGaming, but we can’t deny the addictive quality of the console’s party games.
I hate to admit it, but I really enjoy playing them, which should automatically revoke my self-awarded title of “hardcore gamer”.
The games might be buggy, and have questionable game balancing, but acting like a five-year-old when you beat your friend at a quiz game is totally worth it.
FarmVille
No guilty pleasure gaming list would be complete without the Facebook game we all love to hate – FarmVille.
This game started it all: blocking friends on Facebook, posting memes to get a point across, and 2am alerts on your phone because your friend has run out of water for their tomatoes.
The majority of us will openly detest FarmVille, but most of us have tried it at least once.
Candy Crush
This game is almost an institution in itself. The mobile gaming market is gaining followers (and making lots of money) both internationally and in South Africa, and Candy Crush is leading the charge.
You love it, you know you love it.
Tell us about your guilty gaming pleasures in the comments and forum.
