5 upcoming adventure games we can’t wait to play

Uncharted 4

As a number of shooters, sports and strategy games arrive on store shelves, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future, we’re left a little wanting. While many will undoubtedly be great and well worth investing in, few of them will tickle that itch for exploration, but thankfully, there are a few exciting adventure titles on the horizon that we can’t wait to discover.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End

Nathan Drake might be about to go on his last adventure, but it’ll surely be packed with twists, exciting mysteries, lovable characters and brilliant action. The Uncharted series has set a high-bar for the genre, and from the gameplay demonstration we’ve seen, Uncharted 4 is likely to set a new standard for the future of Naughty Dog and adventure titles in general.

Rise of the Tomb Raider

The Tomb Raider reboot was a refreshing take on the life and antics of a young Lara Croft, and injected some new blood into a somewhat dying franchise. We saw Lara go from scared 20-something to an artifact-hunting heroine in the first game, and Rise of the Tomb Raider will continue that journey. Expect some interesting locales, a globe-hopping adventure and some more weird caverns and tombs this time around.

Assassin’s Creed: Victory

The last major Assassin’s Creed release, Unity, was largely considered disaster in about every way imaginable, so Ubisoft needs to knock their next effort out of the park. This time around, Victory will see our merry band of assassins haunt the streets of Victorian London. The new setting and lessons learnt from Unity should, we’re reiterating the word “should”, provide a familiar yet exciting new adventure for the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

The Legend of Zelda Wii U

The first truly open-world Zelda game looks absolutely jaw-dropping, but there’s still so much we don’t know, like when it’s releasing. If this doesn’t sell Wii U units nothing will. So far, everything we’ve seen about the new Zelda game points to something truly special. So it’s essentially another The Legend of Zelda game.

No Man’s Sky

What we haven’t had in a while is an intriguing-looking space exploration title. In No Man’s Sky, you can explore a near-infinite number of worlds on your journey to the center of the universe, mapping out planets as you go. The game is massively multiplayer in a sense, and any world you discover will proudly display your tag. No Man’s Sky has us curious, there’s still a lot to be discovered.

That’s our list, but it’s not necessarily the final say, nor does it include every adventure game worth looking forward to. What are the adventure games you’re most excited about? Do let us know.
