Free Game Roundup (8 – 12 November 2010)

8 November 2010

Boondogplay game

Boondog

Boondog is a platform puzzler with some control mechanics reminiscent of the original Prince of Persia title. Other comparisons have been drawn to Flashback. No matter what the game reminds you of, you’ll be judging perilous jumps by stepping up to the edge platforms and grabbing ledges to break falls. Plenty of levels to puzzle your way through.

Action Escape Kittyplay game

Action Escape Kitty

Action! Escaping! Kitties! Take all of these awesome things and wrap them in a perpetual survival side-scrolling SHMUP and you have Action Escape Kitty. There’s plenty of bullet hell action to be found and an online high-score system in place should one feel the need to compete with random strangers on the internet.

TrackMania Nations Forever

Trackmania Forever

TrackMania Nations Forver has been around for some time now and it’s probably the best free multiplayer racing game avaialble. Those who haven’t picked it up yet are missing out on a fun time. The game features both solo and multiplayer modes and 65 tracks to zoom around. The gameplay is forgiving and lets one reset when mistakes are made. Finding a packed multiplayer game is quick and easy and gamers will soon be racing against players from around the globe. It all works so well because the other racers are ‘ghosts’ and players are racing against times (lag is no longer an excuse). There’s even a level editor if you want to try your hand at building a track. Get the game directly from the TMF website or through Steam – it’s about a 500Mb download.

Chase Goose 2play game

Chase Goose 2

Do you know your way around your keyboard or pressing lots of buttons? Chase Goose 2 is a good way to find out. Players are a goose fleeing a pretty scary monster. The left and right arrow keys will have to be pressed in repeated sucession in order to make the goose run. There are obstacles to avoid by pressing the correct key as indicated in the game. Things get progressively more challenging as one is asked to solve math problems and provide answers on abstract riddles. Great for a 10 minute finger workout or for generating Sūpā Saiya-jin levels of frustration.
