Christmas retail gaming specials this weekend

As we edge nearer to Christmas, South African gamers will be glad to know that there are some incredible console and gaming deals to capitalise on.

Here’s the best of the best this weekend:


Standalone Xbox One console special (Incredible Connection) – R3, 999

If you’re in the market for a vanilla Xbox One console to get you started, Game 4 U has the 500GB console as well as one controller for R3,999.

If a vanilla PS4 bundle is what you’re after, Game has a 1TB standalone PS4 console for R5, 490.

House & Home has entered the fray and revealed its PS4 deal, undercutting Game’s price (above) by a whole Rand, which may seem insignificant, but hey, we’re sticklers for accuracy.

PS4 1TB and games mega bundle (Makro) – R7, 499

Makro has a massive PS4 bundle which includes the 1TB console, one black controller, one 20th anniversary controller, The Last Of Us Remastered, God Of War III, Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection and Mad Max, all for R7, 499.

The Witcher 3 special (BT Games) – various prices

If you haven’t managed to pick up The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt this year, BT Games has a special on the Game of the Year award winning title, pricing the PS4 and Xbox One versions at R599.90 each, while the PC version is R399.90.

Gaming specials (CNA) – various prices

CNA has some more deals on gaming titles this weekend, with some of the standout specials being Battlefield 4 and Need for Speed on Xbox One or PS4 for R199.90 each.

Console and PC game specials (BT Games) – various prices

BT Games has cut the price on some big-name console and PC games. A number of selected PS3 and Xbox 360 games are priced at R199.90 each, while more recent PS3 and Xbox 360 releases are R299.90 each.

A few PS4 and Xbox One games are priced at R299.90, and a number of PC titles are reduced to R199.90.

One of the best deals on offer this weekend includes the 1TB PS4 console, one DualShock controller and the recently-released Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection, for R5, 999 on the dot.

2 for R500 special (Musica) – 2 for R500

It’s also the last weekend of Musica’s gaming promotion, which sees some specials on Xbox 360 and PS3 titles.

Musica is offering two selected games from the Xbox 360 or PS3 library for R500.

Some of the standout titles include Far Cry 3, Crysis 2, Hitman: Absolution, Just Cause 2, Spec Ops: The Line, Sleeping Dogs and Max Payne 3.

Music is running some promotions on selected gaming titles this weekend, and some high-profile games have been separated into three different pricing categories (as seen below).

Some of the standout deals include Driver: San Francisco (PS3) for R199.95 and Assassin’s Creed Rogue (Xbox 360) for R399.95.
