Prominent indie developer Jonathan Blow has spoken out strongly against the games released at this year’s E3 conference.
Taking to Twitter, Blow called out game developers for “working very hard to build fantasies about how cool it is to be a mass murderer.”
Other developers (including Markus “Notch” Persson) retaliated by saying that “studios big enough to be at E3 are the ones that make games people want.”
You can watch the drama unfold below:
The lesson of E3: Game studios are working very hard to build fantasies about how cool it is to be a mass murderer.

That's backwards. The studios big enough to be at e3 are the ones that make games people want. Not that you'd know. https://t.co/u31I5cGc9Q

So it's us CONSUMERS who want to play out power fantasies. The studios just want to make money. But being edgy sure is cool.

@Jonathan_Blow Because video games are above criticism!

To all the people mad at me for saying this … Why are you so threatened by an obviously true statement?
