A new 3D glasses tech allows for 6D perspective viewing to be achieved by the user.

SensoMotoric Instruments has revealed its new 3D lenses which have eye and 6D head tracking features.

The new lenses allow the glasses to track the wearer’s eyes and where they are focused, along with the way in which the wearer’s head is positioned. This then manipulates the image to have the depth and perspective as it would in a real-life situation.

The glasses feature two cameras on the inside of the lenses, tracking the eye movements, while a third camera records the user’s point of view.

SensoMotoric has partnered with 3D tech company Volfoni to utilise the eye-tracking features and “optimize the 3D experience for individual physiognomies.”

The glasses even feature support for Microsoft Kinect.

“This trend-setting development achieved in close collaboration with our partners will help to advance user experience testing in virtual spaces prior to realization of cost-intensive projects. Moreover, eye control with real 3D experience will add another level of entertainment to consumer applications such as video games,” remarked Ingmar Gutberlet, SMI’s Director of Sales and Marketing.
