Intel has unveiled its low-cost Apollo Lake platform, featuring 14nm Goldmont Atom cores, AnandTech reports.
Intel’s Apollo Lake processors will be released in the second half of 2016.
The Apollo Lake platform is the latest generation of x86 architecture aimed at mobile computing. The platform will be affordable and will be implemented in devices such as tablets and specialised notebooks.
The platform will feature a new generation of Atom processors based off the upcoming 14nm Goldmont microarchitecture.
The Apollo Lake platform will also implement the integrated graphics currently used by Skylake processors.
The new generation of processors will be significantly faster and feature better graphical capabilities than previous iterations.
The platform’s increase in power efficiency will allow devices to use smaller batteries without a decrease in battery life.
