AMD’s upcoming 14nm Zen CPUs will compete favourably with Intel on “performance, power and specifications – not just price”, said AMD’s Corporate Vice President, John Taylor.
He also said that for the first time since he joined the company in 2006, he has absolute confidence “that they have the products and the business strategy to change their brand’s perception in the PC market.”
This will hopefully mean that AMD’s new Zen and Polaris architecture really do close the gap on Intel, although the brand is still relatively non-existent in many parts of the world, including South Africa.
No definite release date has been given for the Zen-chips’ release, but early reports indicate that we may see them as early as October.
