Samsung has unveiled the PM971-NVMe 512GB SSD, which is the smallest solid state drive it has ever created.
The SSD is smaller than a postage stamp and includes the following specifications:
- 512GB NAND Flash storage
- 4GB LPDDR4 RAM
- 1.5GBps read speeds
- 800MBps write speeds
The PM971-NVMe is created using 20nm NAND chips which are triple-level cell, but use a portion of as a write buffer.
The tiny SSD will be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB models.
Due to its small size, the PM971-NVMe is well-suited to be implemented within notebooks and mobile devices such as tablets.
The PM971-NVMe SSD will be available in June 2016.
