Here is how much a powerful 4K gaming PC costs in South Africa

Pc gaming battlestations

Not too long ago, gaming in Full HD (1,920 x 1,080p) was a pipe-dream for many PC gamers, requiring the best graphics cards on the market to enjoy.

Now that Full HD has become standard, with modern graphics cards easily delivering 60fps at ultra settings, PC gamers are beginning to reach into the demanding realm of 4K (3840 pixels × 2160) gaming.

Delivering a playable frame-rate at a resolution of 4K is taxing on the most advanced graphics cards, usually requiring a multi-GPU setup and meticulous overclocking to accomplish.

We have compared the pricing of various online retailers to determine the price of a reliable 4K gaming PC in South Africa.

For the graphics card, we have chosen to use the MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Gaming X, which is an overclocked and more efficiently cooled iteration of Nvidia’s latest Pascal GPU.

Although this build will not reach an average frame-rate of 60fps and above in all titles, it will deliver a generally acceptable level of 4K performance, despite its single-GPU setup.

Gamers seeking the added performance of a multi-GPU setup will have to replace the PSU in order to accommodate the power demands of two or more graphics cards.

Check out the full budget and specifications below:
