Nvidia has officially reduced the prices of its previous-generation GeForce GTX 980 Ti, GeForce GTX 980, and GeForce GTX 970 graphics cards.
This is an effort to both clear existing stock and because its upcoming Pascal cards (which wil be more powerful at a lower price) make them largely redundant.
These are the new prices stated by Nvidia:
|GTX 980 Ti||$620 (R9,500)||$495 (R7,580)|
|GTX 980||$399 (R6,110)||$324 (R4,970)|
|GTX 970||$289 (R4,430)||$265 (R4,060)|
The effects of the upcoming Pascal cards have already been felt in South Africa, with the Nvida Geforce GTX 980 Ti becoming steadily cheaper.
Nvidia’s biggest competitor AMD also recently announced the South African pricing of its cheaper RX 480 card which could also be a contributor of the declining prices.
