Far Cry 3 will be 10x bigger than previous games in the series

6 July 2011

Subscribing to the design philosophy, apparently, that bigger = better, Ubisoft has announced that Far Cry is going to be ten times bigger than its predecessors, and – presumably – ten times better.

“If you look at the vistas and the scale of Far Cry 1 and 2, take that and multiply it by ten,” the project’s narrative director, Jason VandenBerghe, tells UK gaming mag, Edge (via Beefjack).

So that’s kind of huge, but not the kind of huge that’s just huge for the sake of being huge (see: Just Cause 2).

“We want to take that even further. We’re focusing on taking that scale and making it dense, so that around every corner there’s something to find or see.

“That’s a key in open-world experiences. We ask ourselves: if there wasn’t anyone to shoot in the game, could it still be fun?”

People to shoot in the game? Looks like they’ve got those priorities in order, then. Everything else is really just bonus.
