Battlefield 3 pre-orders keeping up with Black Ops pre-orders

26 July 2011

According to industry analyst firm, Cowen & Company, EA’s Battlfield 3 is roughly on par with where Call of Duty: Black Ops was in terms of pre-orders leading up to it’s release. Black Ops went on to sell 20 million copies in its first nine months on sale, making it the most successful video game launch to date.

The firm resultantly opted to increase its projected sales figure for the game from eight million to 11 million.

It is difficult to judge how Battlefield 3 is tracking compared to Modern Warfare 3 which also releases later this year. UK retailer Game earlier this week revealed that Battlefield 3 is well on its way to smashing the record set by Black Ops, and that pre-orders are well ahead of where they were on Black Ops this time last year.

However, according to the US’s largest games retailer, Gamestop, Battlfield 3 is outselling Modern Warfare 3 at the moment.
