Brink free to play weekend, plus free DLC

4 August 2011

Steam is offering Brink as free to play for the weekend until Sunday, 7 August 20.00 CAT (+2 GMT). You can download the game from the Brink Steam store page. Brink is also 50% reduced on Steam for this period.

The Brink Agents of Change DLC has also launched on Steam and is available for free for the first two weeks. The offer ends on 17 August 2011. Agents of Change introduces new maps, abilities, weapon attachments and character outfits.

I’m hoping that the DLC will be usable for those trying out Brink during the free to play period; perhaps a valiant MyGaming reader can let us know in the comments or the forum if this is the case.

These promotional offers are part of a QuakeCon 2011 Steam Sale with will see four days of deals. Be sure to check back each day to check the new deals. Today (4-5 AugustToday) the Doom & Quake Complete Pack is 65% off at US$30 (±R210). Individually, the titles are reduced 50% each. These offers expire on 5 August at 19.00 CAT.

The massive QuakeCon Pack is quite enticing; it is filled with all released id Software and Bethesda titles at over 75% off for US$70 (±R485). That’s a collection of 34 games and add-on packs, including big-name titles such as Fallout New Vegas, The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, and the Doom and Quake series.

Gamers can save an additional 20% off the QuakeCon Pack by pre-purchasing either RAGE or Skyrim. Save 40% off the QuakeCon Pack by pre-purchasing both of the titles.

Steam does sometimes make it quite difficult to resist accumulating a vast digital games collection.
