Ahead of its November release, the guys and guyettes over at Bethesda HQ have been doing what any sensible devs do in final crunch time – Skyrim speedruns!
“As tradition goes, when Bethesda Game Studios is close to wrapping up development on a title, we hold a speedrun competition through the main quest (with no cheats allowed),” writes the person responsible for writing Bethesda’s official blog.

“While the game will take many hours to complete for a first-time players, our developers have years of experience under their belts and know all the ins-and-outs for speeding through the game.”
“The contest pits the best Bethesda Game Studios has to offer vs. the best of QA. The person with the best time wins a trophy and gets a pie of their choice from Todd Howard.”
In an epic battle to the death (or the credits), dev teamie Jeff Browne went mouse-to-mouse with QA tester Sam Bernstein.
Despite taking a “totally different route”, Sam beat Jeff’s time by just 20 seconds, with a final time of 2 hours, 16 minutes, and 10 seconds.
It’s not the first time these titans have clashed – back in 2008, Sam clocked a Fallout 3 speedrun of just 75 minutes, beating Jeff by “a matter of seconds”.
Just 75 minutes? It took me 75 hours to finish that game.
