MWeb launches Modern Warfare 3 dedicated servers

8 November 2011

MWeb Gaming manager Desmond Kurz has informed us that Mweb has launched dedicated servers for Modern Warfare 3.

As previously revealed, Modern Warfare 3 dedicated servers will not allow for level progression, but do allow for customisability from the server host side, which should mean some intersting gameplay modes as the MW3 community digs in and the hosts get creative.

“MWeb are going to deploy 10 servers to start with, but we will keep a careful watch on the popularity and scale up the number of servers as required. There are quite a lot of game modes, so we will also take a look to see what is the most popular given the feedback on the website and adjust accordingly,” said Kurz.

“The first server we deployed is tied to the new game mode “Kill Confirmed”, which I can tell you is good fun.”

“All of our servers will be prefixed with [MWEB] gMz, so they will be easy to spot,” he added.

“The servers are maximum 18 players, so with the initial deployment of 10 servers, we will accommodate 180 slots initially.”

“In a short while, courtesy of our partnership with Gameservers.com, we will be able to offer players the ability to rent their own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 servers. Access to the servers is via the in-game server browser,” Kurz concluded.

To provide MWeb with feedback on their servers and make suggestions on server configurations, players can head on over to the MWeb GameZone.
