According to VGChartz, Bethesda‘s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has gone on to sell 3.4 million copies in its first 2 days of being on sales, and that excludes digital sales which now account for the majority of PC game sales.

That’s a just a little more than Oblivion, which managed only 490,000 in its staggered opening accross PS3 and Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 gamers have once again shown the biggest support, making up over 2 million (59%) of total sales. A further 27% of sales were attributed to PS3, and 14% to PC, although with the likes of Steam being excluded, this does not provide an accurate representation of the platform split.

2.5 million copies of the game were sold in the Americas, and 950,000 copies have moved through EMEAA (Europe Middle East Asia Africa).

This makes Skyrim one of the top selling games of the year so far, beating out the likes of Gears of War 3 and Fifa 12, and matching EA‘s Battlefield 3.
