With the news that Beyond Good and Evil 2 is definitely coming out, we got to thinking about the games that never will see the light of day.
Specifically those games that had such incredible pedigree behind them that we just knew they would be great whenever they released.
These are the six best games that never actually came out:
Star Wars 1313
Watch this trailer and tell me you’re not excited.
It’s clear that the game would borrow liberally from Uncharted and the recent Tomb Raider games but we would forgive it because it’s Star Wars.
The world deserves a truly decent Star Wars action-adventure and we hope the folks at EA deliver next year.
Silent Hills
Hideo Kojima working on a Silent Hill title with horror star Norman Reedus – of course that was going to be great.
Now that the two are working on Death Stranding, we know that game will also likely turn out to be something quite special but still – it’s no Silent Hill.
The fact that a demo for the game “PT” was arguably the most innovative game of the year speaks volumes.
Starcraft Ghost
The Starcraft storyline is dumb, but in the best kind of way.
Ghost was going to be Blizzard’s first AAA-foray onto consoles and looked genuinely cool leading up to release, but then dissipated into the air.
Project Titan
As evidenced above, Blizzard make great games.
We still have no idea what Project Titan was or where it was heading, but the fact that it was scrapped to make the incredible Overwatch is testament to how great this game could have been.
Star Wars: Battlefront 3
DICE’s Battlefront game was actually pretty decent for what it was but it’s clear the game was more closely modelled on the Battlefield games rather than Pandemic’s Battlefront titles.
The fact that the original Battlefront holds up just fine proves what a great formula they had going and the fact we couldn’t play those games with shiny graphics and destructible environments make us very, very sad.
Rockstar’s Agent
Rockstar make great games and it’s a testament to how enjoyable GTA Online is (despite its wonkiness) that millions of people still play it every month.
Agent was supposed to be a PlayStation-exclusive MMO based on an espionage tale set in the 1970’s amid the Cold War, and just typing that out hurts because of how great that sounds.
