MyGaming recently spoke to Raru’s Neil Smith about the effect of the worsening Rand exchange rate.

While this will mean an increase in pricing across the board, one publisher is reducing the price of its games in South Africa to help fight the unstable Rand.

Ubisoft has decreased the prices of its upcoming games, meaning South African distributors can pick them up for cheaper.

While pricing is typically dependent on which publisher the local suppliers are getting their games and hardware from, Ubisoft is offering these cheaper prices on the majority of its newer releases including:

  • Just Dance 2017 (R715)
  • The Crew Ultimate Edition (R622)
  • Steep (R893)
  • For Honor (R899)

It is of course up to retailers to reflect these cheaper prices to the public, but if Ubisoft’s games are slightly cheaper than others on store shelves this Christmas, now you know why.

Why are all these games so expensive ? It makes no sense. Just dance 2017 ? Surely that one should be less than half that price. I’d understand if it was a AAA title … but jeez -not all games are equal. Also what is the demand for new console games nowadays ? huge supply but low demand – these prices should be a lot lower.
