With the recent release of Bethesda’s DOOM and the announcement of Quake Champions, we thought we’d take a look at some of the best competitive shooters you can play right now on PC.

Tribes: Ascend

Tribes: Ascend is an often-overlooked multiplayer FPS title from Hi-Rez, the folks behind Smite.

The game features unique skiing mechanics, iconic weapons, and massive arenas.


Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

CS: GO is the ultimate skill-based first-person shooter on PC at the moment.

With massive tournaments, constant balancing, and classic game mechanics, CS: GO remains one of the most popular shooters of all time.


Quake Live

Price: R109

If you’re in the mood for some classic arena FPS gameplay, Quake Live allows you to join an active multiplayer community and frag like its 1999.


Reflex

Price: R109

Reflex is a spiritual successor to Quake, although it has not enjoyed the popularity of its predecessor.

The game features classic arena FPS mechanics and aims to mimic the iconic movement style from the genre.


DOOM

Price: R799

While Bethesda’s DOOM remake may not have a flourishing competitive community yet, the company has nailed the action-packed gameplay and movement mechanics of the series.

DOOM received glowing reviews, and has been praised as fast-paced and fun.


Diabotical

Price: $10-$15

Diabotical is a Quake-inspired competitive arena shooter which aims to deliver high-level competitive gaming, focussing on classic arena FPS mechanics and free-flowing movement.

The game is being developed by The GD Studio, which is headed up by James “2GD” Harding, an eSports expert and former professional Quake player who has been involved in several top-level eSports events.

    And non of these other than CSGO are in the competitive field in SA cause nobody know’s how to make it into 1
