R8,000 prize money in July PolarFluke StarCraft II

21 June 2011

Local StarCraft II tournament organizer Polarfluke has significantly upped the ante and introduced a whopping R8,000 in prize cash for its July 2011 event.

This is easily the most significant prize purse we have seen in the local StarCraft II competitive scene to date, and Polarfluke founder Matthew Merks has confirmed to MyGaming that the cash has been donated by a private investor who has recently become involved with the organization.

The best part is that this won’t be a once off deal, and Merks has confirmed that Polarfluke has managed to secure a “good prize pool” for additional competitions over the next few months.

PolarFluke has previously awarded players with relatively small cash prizes, with MyGaming sponsoring a number of events.

July’s Polarfluke prize pool will be divided as follows:

1st:  R2,800.00
2nd: R1,800.00
3rd: R1,100.00
4th: R700.00
5th-8th: R400.00

As usual, it doesn’t cost anything to enter the tournament, which will be played over the first weekend of July (2-3 July).

Head over to Polarfluke to find out more about the event and secure yourself a spot.

With such a large prize pool, we can expect the very best StarCraft II players in SA to be battling it out in July’s PolarFluke tournament.
